Setup ShareCart for Online Store 2.0 Themes

This article is only relevant if your theme is compatible with Online Store 2.0. If you are using a vintage theme instead, see Setup ShareCart for Vintage Themes.

We use app blocks to display the ShareCart buttons and messaging on your store. App blocks are an OS 2.0 feature that Shopify introduced to allow apps to insert content into your online store.

Head to Online Store > Themes in your Shopify admin.

Next to your current theme, click the Customize button to open the Theme editor.

Add the ShareCart buttons and messaging to your store.

Add the ShareCart button to your cart page

Open the drop-down menu at the top of the page and select Cart. This opens your cart page in the theme editor.

Under Subtotal in the left sidebar click Add block. From the pop out list choose ShareCart Button, and hit Save.

Recommendation: Add the ShareCart button directly below your Checkout button for the best customer experience.

Add the ShareCart button to your flyout cart

Note: This is only applicable if you have a flyout cart enabled on your store. A flyout cart is when your cart is displayed as on overlay on the current page and not as a stand-alone page.

In the left sidebar of the theme editor select the App embeds icon. Select the toggle to turn on the Flyout Cart Button, and hit Save.

Add the ShareCart button to your product page

Open the drop-down menu at the top of the page and select Products > Default Product. This opens the default product template in the theme editor.

In the left sidebar click Add block. From the pop out list choose ShareCart Button, and hit Save.

Recommendation: Add the ShareCart button directly below your Buy buttons for the best customer experience.

Add the ShareCart messaging to your product page

Open the drop-down menu at the top of the page and select  Products > Default Product. This opens the default product template in the theme editor.

In the left sidebar click Add block. From the pop out list choose ShareCart Messaging, and hit Save.

Recommendation: Add the ShareCart messaging directly below your product price for the best customer experience.
